I completed my Masters degree in Education with a concentration in Reading and Literacy. I also have my reading teacher certificate and will soon complete my Reading Specialist Credential. I have a deep love for learning and consider myself a lifelong learner. My dream has always been to be a teacher, working with children has always felt natural. I grew up in Santa Rosa, CA. During my education I moved around the state of California. I attended the SRJC, then transferred to San Jose State University. I completed my BA in Liberal Studies emphasizing in elementary education. After graduation I wished to explore another big city, I moved to Sacramento where I obtained my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential at Sacramento State. I completed my student teaching in third grade and Kindergarten. Craving warm weather and sunshine, I decided to move to beautiful San Diego for two years where I began my Masters Degree. I moved back to home sweet home,Santa Rosa, to complete my Masters Degree at Sonoma State. I taught two years of First Grade in California and two years of First and Second grade in New York City. I am enthusiastic and motivated to be a first grade teacher! I believe learning should be engaging, interactive and a partnership between teacher and student.

I love to...
During my time at the SRJC I was fortunate enough to study abroad in Florence, Italy for a semester. This experience altered my perspective of the world around me. I traveled to many beautiful and historical places. Learning about different cultures fascinates me. I think it is important to step beyond our comfort zones and experience a new way of life. Learning new languages has always been a passion of mine. I took French for 5 years, as well as some Italian and Spanish. My love for languages inspired my thesis project, focusing on literacy in a Spanish/ bilingual first grade classroom. I also love to; cook, bake, run, read, hike, snowboard, wakeboard, camp and most importantly, teach! :)

I'm passionate about...
Reading and writing is a huge passion of mine. As a child I always had a book with me. In first grade I remember writing a chapter book about the adventures of "Chipmunk". I let my imagination run wild creating the plot. I believe it is important to allow students to have ownership over their own reading and writing. Both should be explorative and creative. Students should be provided the opportunity to read and write every day. I can't wait to share my love for literacy with each student!
